In light of Zacharya and Avital's beautiful wedding weekend, it is hard not to think about different ways of living together in community. I had many conversations this weekend about what would be involved in building a "new" community for those who wanted to explore different options for living and working and being together. I do not feel finished with those conversations, so I thought I would set up this space on which anyone who wishes to could continue this conversation.
For those of you who, like me, have never worked with wikispaces before, let me comment on how this works. This is a place for us all to share thoughts, plans, research, images, visions, hallucinations, or anything else that can be digitally communicated. I have set the permissions so no one is in charge here. Anyone can edit anything. Just click on the edit button in the upper right. Any of you could go ahead and change the name of our community, for example (and I hope you will after some discussion), so go ahead and take ownership while being sensitive to that same sense of ownership in others. Along the left side, you can see the different pages I have set up. Each page asks a few questions to begin the conversation. Go ahead and respond, ask your own questions, or just add a new page. Make sure you save your changes. You can also post to the discussion board on each page and see other people's posts by clicking the discussion tab at the top of the page. Go ahead and respond to my first post on our homepage to get the feel for how this works.
Consider this a fully interactive "sim" game - call it Sim Community. Let's see if we can plan and build a community that would provide an alternative to what we see around us. Perhaps it will just be an interesting intellectual, philosophical, or spiritual conversation. Or perhaps...
